User Story

As a user I can log in to my spellbook each day and watch videos that show me how to do cool spells in Magikcraft, and learn how to program.

Background

At the moment users cannot easily discover information about programming in Magikcraft. There are videos on YouTube, but this is not readily apparent to users. Our viewership on YouTube is low. There is no virtuous cycle between users / viewers and content producers. By putting the video channel into the spellbook, we create a virtuous cycle where viewers watch a video, do something cool, and are then incentivized to come back again. Because there are viewers, producing content makes sense and is rewarded by viewer numbers and feedback, thus driving the virtuous cycle.

Feature Description

This feature consists of, in the lowest orbit:

A link to the YouTube channel in the Play App.

In the next orbit:

A tab in the Play App that displays a curated feed of videos. Viewers should always start at the beginning of the channel, and should be able to progress through the content.

Out of Scope

A channel of private videos for subscribers is out of scope for iteration 1, and should be done in iteration 2, when we have proved the concept.

Acceptance Criteria

The following need to function to consider this feature complete:

Phase 1:

A button / logo is visible, and opens the Magikcraft YouTube channel in a new tab when clicked.

Phase 2:

There is a new tab in the Play App for the curated channel. When a user opens this tab, it displays the curated channel from the beginning, and the user's progress through the videos is tracked.

Analytic events are captured for us to measure engagement with the videos.
