Priv extension not working as intended on an android 11 rom. #7

Installed the magisk module available on the magisk modules tab ( did this after the revert of the 0.3 version so not on the classic version of the app ). The extension is recognized in the settings of the fdroid app (v1.10) the tickbox is also ticked but while updating/installing apps the install unknown apps overlay pops up and permission has to be provided to get it installed through the package manager and if permission is denied then nothing happens.

update: The install,delete_packages permissions do show up for the priv extension app in the permissions manager app.

Also tried the 0.3 version which had to be reziped to get it working in magisk installer but it is not recognized by the official fdroid app (v1.10)

Upon further testing it seems the issue is not with all android 11 roms but with roms like Jaguar R for oneplus 3 and such. But works without issue on arrowos 11.

In that case I'm afraid I can't be of much help because I don't have that device to be able to test that particular ROM. Unless they have Pixel builds?

I've got the same problem on ProtonAOSP, which is a pixel rom.

gammerboy commented 3 years ago

From the input from @0cwa it seem like roms with some kind of hardening has this issue. JaguarR for op3/t mentions some kind of hardening while the protonAOSP also mentions about some hardening from GrapheneOS. Well this is just a speculation for now.

@0cwa Out of curiosity, does Aurora Services work with the Aurora Droid app on your ROM?

RyanHakurei commented 3 years ago

@gammerboy I think the issue is simply that some of these apps are way out of date which is why I asked him if Aurora Services works. There is some discussion on Reddit a year ago about these types of apps not working.

gammerboy commented 3 years ago

Aurora services did not work either for me on Jaguar R ROM.

Does Auroradroid's root install method work?

For me it did, but Aurora Droid has been crashing a lot for me lately, that's actually the main reason I switched back to stock F-droid and the priv extension, which I also installed from the F-droid store, as well as Magisk, in case that makes any difference.

gammerboy commented 3 years ago

The Auroradroid's root install method did work without any issues just not the services install method. There does seem to be a update to the aurora services having "Fix Issues related to Aurora Droid" but am not currently running the Rom I had this issue with rn. Been using this magisk module with arrowos rom without any issues for a while now (Thank you for the module). There also seems to be an updated version of the fdroid priv extension apk made available a few days back which might also have fixed some issue but I do apologize for not being able to test and report back regarding this at the moment.

@0cwa does updating to the latest version of the fdroid priv ext fix the issue you are having?
