What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Long press on any of the Settings List to get prompt
2. Select prompt (Fake this provider now)
3. Get error message
(Restore gives the same error message)
What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I see nothing, but a message 'We got a problem houston'.
What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
I am using market enabler 3.0.2v-beta, the one from this site. I have
modelnumber HTC
Hero, firmware 1.5, kernell 2.6.27-.... buildnumber 2.73.405.5 etc (latest HTC
released rom) and software version 1.0.0.A6288
Please provide any additional information below.
Mail me if you have any questions! I will be more than happy to help fix this,
so
Market enabler will work on my phone...

Have you two seen issue #5?
can you attach a logcat of the MarketEnabler execution?
Probably you know the requirements but I will ask:
Do you have root rights on your phone and a working su command?
Did you install busybox binaries?

Hello Michel,
I think I do not have any of those requirements you described. Can you please
tell
me where I can see how to root my phone, get a working su command and where to
get
the busybox binaries? I will try doing that, and let you know if I still have
those
errors.

I don't have a hero and I have an adp so rooting was never in my focus...
I just googled short and one of the results is
http://phandroid.com/2009/08/04/how-to-gain-root-access-on-your-htc-hero/ but I
don't
know if it works.
About Busybox (most custom rom's should have it anyway):
http://www.novoda.com/blog/?p=3
SU command:
There are different ways, easiest and safest would be
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=449536
Another way (but opens security holes) (this was the first action I did on my
ADP
after getting it with v 1.0):
preconditions: having root access
{{{
$adb remount
$ adb shell cp /system/bin/sh /system/bin/su
$ adb shell chmod 4755 /system/bin/su
}}}
But I strongly recommend to use the superuser.apk and the corresponding su
binary.
If you're patient, as soon as I have some freetime I recode ME and remove
busybox
dependencies.

I am very patient, when I have to be. Thank you already for your explanation. I
think rooting it will be something that will come in handy one way or another,
so I
will do that part and then just wait. Your help is greatly appreciated :)

I think I have rooted my phone (I used instant root, a file I found via the xda-
developers forum) and I have tried market enabler again. When I press the
prompt, I
get another popup that says: we are working and a progressbar. So it seems to
work
fine now! My actual values have changed, and I can restore settings or select
others. Now comes the figuring out what exactally I can do :)
Thanks for the help, I think my problem is solved. Just need to root the phone,
and
it works!
But just to be sure, do you agree with me? I did not have a working su command
(I
think?) or busybox binaries. At least, I did nothing to get those two.

I don't know what exactly instantroot all does but as it worked, it seems that
it
installed all stuff that is needed.
You mean what you can do with ME?
The reason why I created ME was because I'm in a country where google prohibits
buying apps and I don't want to use warez, that's where ME comes in and enables
me to
buy apps and pay the developers what they deserve.
Another usage is that you can install Applications, that are just on a specific
market (country and latest even carrier).

Do you fulfill all preconditions?
Having root, a working su app and busybox installed?

Maybe it should be made clearer on the site or in the readme (where now only the
donation stuff is) that it needs a rooted phone. Like, more on the top and
bigger, or
next to the download link, not justsomewhere near the changelog.

I've seen this issue in the 1.6 emulator with the stock su version from the
emulator.
You may try to install the new su binary and the Superuser.apk on your device.
Try this version: http://swnet.spb.ru/files/a/su.zip (installed via adb on the
USB
connected device, there is bat file for automated installation, just make sure
you
have adb from the SDK in PATH).
Also try the new MarketAccess based on MarketEnabler:
http://swnet.spb.ru/files/a/MarketAccess.apk .
