PoC + newFeature - Social Media Channels: Levarage Mailtrain #1259

Zammad, admittedly standing on a different technology stack, does a beautiful job in including various communication channels. Since Mailtrain already has an RSS feature I was wondering if anyone would be interested in doing a PoC for one of the options, to thoroughly implement promising new channels and include them in the official release in a second step.

Using existing node libraries and provided APIs by Social Media Plattforms this sounds like a fruitful use case to me.

  1. Telegram
  2. LinkedIn
  3. Facebook

So, anyone interested in tackling to include some additional channels like LinkedIn, Telegram, Facebook, Twitter and other Social Media in Mailtrain together? @jonathanmmm @bures ? Thought on this  ?

This would be a great way, but would involve a lot of work. This also would probably would make the name mailtrain going away. Did you look if other projects exist already? As most of these are not bound to an email someone could manage them in two different systems, of course in one would be great. For my part, I have no interest to implement this.

@l4b4r4b4b4 Maybe what you are looking for is this already existing open source app: https://github.com/chatwoot/chatwoot I would not like Mailtrain to leave its main purpose: sending mails. Posting to social media is a whole different thing. Changing APIs and replying to comments is just a whole different use case.

We are going to start with the development and testing of mailtrain v3 in the next weeks.

You are welcome to help us with the testing as soon as the first release candidate is available.
