Unable to retrieve comments of any users #328

Any users' comments are not appearing in the Database popup box, only their posts are. I have a Firefox on Lenovo Ideapad. Maybe I am doing it wrong? How to do it normally, and what to do if no comments?

(PS I absolutely love your project)

Are you sure you have comment extraction enabled in the user's settings? In the comments section of the user settings, if you have extract or download set to either download or download only author they should be appearing in the database popup.

If these settings are enabled, ensure that the show comments checkbox is checked at the top right of the database dialog.

If both of these are correct and you are sure that the user has comments to extract, let me know and I can try and diagnose further.

I double clicked on the usernames, and set their parameters, as you described, as DOWNLOAD. It's still not showing up. Show comments is checked on the database popup.I am probably making some silly mistake. If it is possible, please could you let me know how to download all posts and comments of a user? I am so so sorry to bother you.

It sounds like you have the correct settings for downloading comments enabled. To download all posts and comments for a user, open the settings dialog for that user set the post limit to 1,000 (max), and set the comment download settings to DOWNLOAD. You may try adjusting the comment limit, comment depth, or reply limit, but the default value of 100 should be plenty. Make sure you don't have any score limits set, and that the download videos/images/gifs checkboxes are checked for the types of content you want to download.

If you've already run a download for this user before making these changes, you will likely have to uncheck the "limit by date" checkbox to retry that user.

I did these steps, yet in the settings it'll say that there are 0 associated comments on their profile and it won't download anything. There is no date limit or anything, so unsure of what the problem could be.

I'm not sure what the problem could be either if you have followed all of those steps. The "limit by date" checkbox is unchecked for the user you are trying to download?

It worked, I am so sorry to have bothered you. The issue was that I was trying to save it in a particular folder that did not exist yet. I have successfully been using your genius for a month now. I am so sorry again.
