External subtitles does not work with Oppo bdp-105 #30

Open GoogleCodeExporter opened 8 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Oppo bdp-105EU
2. Starting a movie on the Oppo
3. mkv, avi or mp4 with external *.srt

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Movie starts but no external subs

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
UMS 2.1.2 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit.

I tried newer version of UMS but had the same problems as reported in issue 26.

Please provide any additional information below.
It takes up to 5 minutes before UMS apears in Oppo but the Oppo apears in UMS
instantly.
I have no problems viewing movies with internal subs.

I have just tested version 2.2.5.
The problem with external subtitles are still there and it does still take
about 5 minutes for UMS to apear in the Oppo.

One good thing, I had the same problem as described in issue 26 and that have
been solved with this version. At least for me. Thanks for that.

Thanks for the report. I'm testing this with someone and hope to have it fixed
soon.

I have just tested version 2.2.6 and UMS now shows up in the Oppo realy fast.
It only takes seconds. Thanks for that!

Subtitles does still not work.
I have also noticed when trying to run a movie with external subtitles I can
not FastForward or use "GoTo".
Also, the Oppo can't detect the resolution. It will report 0 resolution or some
jibberish.

This is probably fixed in 2.4.0, please try that (will be released later today)
and let me know

Hi,

I have now tested with version 2.4.0.
There are changes.

The Oppo does now recognize the movie’s time and resolution but when I start
the film it does not show any subtitles, external or built in. If I remove the
external subs file it will show the built in subs.

If I enter the “Transcode” folder, all files are recognized as mpg no
matter what the files format actually are. Oppo will never recognize the
movie’s time or resolution in the "Transcode Folder" no matter if I have
external subs or not.

If I in the “Transcode” folder start the film with external subtitles it
will work!
However, I cannot fast-forward or use “Go To”. I guess that’s because it
did not recognize the time or resolution.

Hi,

I have just installed version 2.51.
My problems with external subtitles are still the same.

The difference are that UMS thinks my "Oppo BDP 105" are a Netgear Neo TV.

If I try to enter an “Transcode” folder", when recognized as an Netgear Neo
TV, I will get the message that to format is not supported.
If I the force UMS to use Oppo BDP-93 I can again start films with subtitles
within “Transcode” folder" but, as before, no "fast forward" or "GoTo"
functionality.
And also as before, I will not get any external subtitles outside the
“Transcode” folder" as shown in the attached picture "Movie external
sub.jpg"

Hi slanggurka :) Have you tried selecting "clean install" while you're
installing UMS? I suspect that will fix this, please let me know

OK, can you please upload your debug info after trying to play the file?

Hi,

Here is the debug info.
I have started 2 different films, to reproduce the bug, since they behave
differently.
1. "Blade.1998.720p.BluRay.x264-CiNEFiLE.mkv" will start but without subtitles.
2. "The.Intouchables.2011.720p.Bluray.x264.anoXmous.mp4" will not start at all.
It used to behave like "Blade" but not now.

Hi,

I'm now running version 2.5.2.2

I found a solution for the problem playing mp4 as mentioned in my earlier post.
I made an renderer file "Oppo bdp105.conf" and now all problems with not be
able to start mp4 are gone. To be honest I'm not sure what I did to make it
work but by trial and error I came up with this file. Perhaps someone reading
this have a better conf file, If so please post it.
I'm sure that a conf file for Oppo BDP 105 will work on 103 and vice versa.

However the problem with external subtitles are still the same.

Is there anyone out there having an Oppo BDP 105 or 103 with the same problems
as I have?

What happens if you remove line 15 from that file? (mediainfo=true)

Original comment by subjunk on 23 Mar 2013 at 10:19

GoogleCodeExporter commented 8 years ago
If I remove "mediainfo=true" mp4 and avi files will appear as mpeg.
Also, I can not FastForward or use "GoTo" and the Oppo can't detect the
resolution. It will report 0 resolution or some jibberish. Maybe that's why I
can't use "Goto" and FastForward.

I have been running 2.6.0 for some time and I have the same problem as before.
F.y.i. if I run movies with external subtitles on USB straight in to the Oppo,
there are no problem.
I have tried varies settings in my "Oppo bdp105.conf" but I have not had any
success getting external subtitles to work.
To bad, I would really like to try the new feature with "Live Subs".

I have tried the new versions and are now running 2.6.3 and still have the
problems with external subtitles. Is there anything I can test in the render
file?

I have tried the different beta versions and are now running 3.0.0-a5 and have
the same problems with external subtitles as I did before.

Maybe a stupid remark, but are you sure the .srt file has EXACTLY the same name
as the movie file (with exception of the extension)? Otherwise the Oppo will
not recognize the subtitle.

Yes, the name are the same.
