Windows MP client can not see any files on Linux UMS server

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Start UMS on Linux Mint 14
2. Access UMS server from Windows 7 Media Player
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Having defined (via the GUI interface on Linux) a list of shares, I expect to 
see a list of video files (from Media Player) that can be selected on the 
server.  I see the server, but no choices are listed for playable file

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
Running 2.6.3 on Linux Mint 14

Did you click save and restart the server/program after defining the shared 
folders?

Yes, several times.  I can see the server from VLC on a MAC, but not from MP on 
W7.

I also am havving the same issue:
UMS 2.6.4 on Centos 6.3 and Windows Media Player on Windows 8
