map performance issue #139

While the rendering of the map, and drag / zoom interactions work well with a moderat volume of tweets, the performance is heavily degraded with a larger volume (80k tweets).

takes several seconds (10+ sec) to render the map
unresponsive script warning on firefox / android
crashes chrome and safari / iOS
