Client does not update blockchain / need menu entry to manually start blockchain update #165

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I transferred 1BTC to my wallet two days ago,
but the wallet just won't update the block chain,
so it does not show up in the wallet.

I exported the privkeys to electrum
and it shows up there.

Otherwise great App!

Thanks!

Which version of Bitcoin Wallet have you got?

Can you report an issue through Options > Settings > Report issue and include a
dump of your wallet?

No menu entry is needed because the blockchain updates automatically.

Starting with version 3.01, the default for Options > Settings > Connectivity
Indicator is disabled. For sake of debugging this, could you enable it?

Now, if you say the blockchain isn't updating, does it say something like "xxx
days behind" in the bottom bar? Is it connected to at least one peer
(connectivity indicator)? Does it say "stalled"? Does it have another error
message like "no network" or "no storage"?

I like monitoring the P2P connections, so its always enabled: 3-7 peers, and no
notice that its behind.

Once I reset the block chain, all new transactions show up immedietly. (Before
the replay completes)

@Soap2.ts: If it has no notice of being behind, then it is up to date. So it
does not need to sync. Actually what exactly is your issue? Missing
transactions like the OP? In this case, is it reproducable? Have transactions
already been confirmed on the sending side?

Bitcoin Wallet connects to the network only every 15 minutes (or less, if you
do not use it for a longer time). It cannot be always on, because it would
drain your battery.

The transactions have been confirmed on block explorer. The wallet won't
automatically sync with the blockchain. Block explorer also shows transactions
back to me, that the wallet does not recognize till manual reset.

@Soap2.ts Do you still have this issue? Since April, many small issues were
fixed that could cause this. I'm sorry I did not get back to you for so long.

It looks like it has been fixed. Haven't done much investigation since last
time I commented. I'll check it out a bit more tonight and let you know.
