transaction somehow in strange state #60

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

It happened twice already. I sent 1 BTC. The transaction was shown to me grayed
out.
First time after waiting 2 hours I sent 1 cBTC and somehow magically both the
BTC and the cBTC went through.
Second time I did not act on the BTC not getting sent. Days later I sent 1 cBTC
again and it went through but not the BTC. At least from what I can tell from
my side of the transaction. I remember that night I wanted to show to a friend
how fast it goes and at least within 20 minutes it did not show up.
Since then I have the grayed out transaction on top of my list.

The recipient was
https://blockexplorer.com/address/1DKkJUsv2h1YJ79g7cCeeWZcw7fAVyPePe - an
instawallet actually. To me it looks like the transaction actually went through.

What version of Bitcoin Wallet are you using?

Can you upgrade to version 1.52 and reset your blockchain? Options -> About ->
Reset Blockchain.

Earlier versions had bugs that could corrupt your wallet file.

No, I can not upgrade on my motorola defy. I see there is a newer version but
it does not allow me to upgrade somehow. Did you change the requirements?

I just compared the manifest of 1.39 and HEAD but found no changes that could
prevent updating.

Can you try updating from here:

http://code.google.com/p/bitcoin-wallet/downloads/detail?name=bitcoin-wallet-1.5
2.apk

You need to enable updates from "unknown sources" for this to work.

update worked now actually and "Options -> About -> Reset Blockchain" does its
work. It is not really clear how to operate this feature as I have to restart
the client or so??? "Reset" sounds like an action but it's a radio button??
Should it be "schedule for reset on next start"?

Anyway, transactions are being collected and I'm waiting to see if the 5BTC
that I couldn't spend are actually mine or not. Will let you know if problem
remains unsolved.

Leo, is there any news to this issue? Did you recover your Bitcoins?

Uff… ähm… you are really quick to answer. I would say your guess is as
good as mine and assume that if I didn't complain anymore, the client
recovered. Thanx for your help.

I had Bitcoin Wallet (please rename your app!!! Bitcoin Wallet simply has a
different meaning already) installed in Chile which made me pay $20 of prepaid
internet until I finally switched to Spinner but I will give it a try as soon
as I read positive reports about bloom filters working.

Bloom filtering is implemented now and appears to work very well. Also, in the
latest 3.0 beta we did away with blockchain storage and initial blockchain
download. Bitcoin Wallet should now be just as quick as spinner.

Closing because the original issue has been fixed.
