crash when downloading blockchain #61

What steps will reproduce the problem?

Start app, wait for it to download block chain. When there are ~5 weeks 
remaining to download, the app crashes. Used to work until a few days ago, when 
it crashed for the first time. After every restart, the blockchain download 
starts from the beginning.

What version of Bitcoin Wallet are you using? On what Android version and
what phone? Don't just state 'most recent', this is not enough info.

Bitcoin Wallet v1.39 running on phone HTC Desirs GSM, rom CyanogenMod 7.0.3.

Please provide any additional information below.

I monitored the storage space, there is enough of it, that's not the problem. I 
am using a trusted node to download the blockchain (btcnode.novit.ro). After 
every crash, the blockchain resumes from the beginning (~19 weeks).

Tried with 1.40 RC and it doesn't happen anymore. I suggest we leave this open 
until 1.40 final, then I'll retest and report.
