support rasterization of vector layers #1601

Currently, only TYPE RASTER layers can be used for Mapserver WCS. It would be a
nice enhancement if Mapserver WCS would support vector layers, and apply the
symbolization defined in the MAP file as well, i.e. being able to rasterize
vector layers.

Boy, I dunno about this idea. It's not that it's hard to produce the images it
more about what metadata to expose: what cellsize, grid dimensions and so forth.
What's wrong with just sticking with WMS (which can do exactly this already)?

Hi Steve,

point taken wrt to METADATA. So I guess this is not the intention of the WCS
spec at all. I'll mark this bug as INVALID.

The only limitation with sticking with WMS would be that there probably is a max
image size of 2048 by 2048 pixels.
