Lighten and Darken Methods #169

Hey there!

I'm kinda new to contributing to other projects but was recommended by a NodeSchool mentor named Darcy Clarke to start here. He mentioned that lighten and darken methods could be added and I was interested in putting them in if possible. Would anyone be opposed to this?

Okay. I can't find a contributing.md anywhere and I'm lost with finding the necessary steps to adding the feature. Do you have any suggestions?
