Mac #15

Fixed a few errors that were occurring when running the oci_starter.sh script on mac.

Tested on cloud shell - works there (apart from maven build issue - but that's down to a JDK version issue).

I've messed something up. Too many changes in a single commit (doh!).

Will go over it again more slowly and open a new PR.
