Maintainers change -- so do upstream versions change. Therefore VAM should tell users that they are using a non default upstream. It should not enforce it cause you sometimes want this (eg when testing features)

Probably UpdateAddons is a nice place to show some additional hints - maybe there should be a new command.

This issue is kind of memo and not very urgent
