Optional of course for those who do not want to alter the signal.

There are some fantastic digital room correction VST/AU available targeted 
specifically at the audiophile market. For example IK Multimedia Advanced Room 
Correction System (ttp://www.ikmultimedia.com/arc/features/)

Support for this would made Audirvana even more audiophile friendly, not the 
opposite.

I share a similar request, but my requirement comes from headphones. I listen 
through a setup which pours out of my GS1000i or AH-D7000 headphones. Not 
having the option to use a VST such as redline monitor is quite restrictive.

I agree.  There are so many plugins already used in the recordings themselves 
that can be used to make up for deficiencies in the source or playback system.
