Discogs tagging help #192

Just a while ago, I tried 'Auto Tag' using Discogs only, for my vinyl and CD files, and among the successful matches, the accuracy when there are multiple releases from the 'master' release, is a mixed bag of results. Over the last hour or so, I've been playing with different settings such as 'max albums to check' and 'strictness'. For example, I set max albums to '1' and strictness to 100%, but I get tag results from multiple releases. As an experiment with one CD, I tried pre-setting the Discogs release id# to each track hoping that would help the accuracy, and it did. Unfortunately, the app is challenged in determining which release I actually have if that isn't set. For the above CD I mentioned, it pulled results from two or three different releases, and so named the track numbers accordingly, so some have a vinyl track-style number and other tracks are just numbers, like on the CD. It would take quite a while to pre-check each EP or album I have to enter the Discogs release ID so maybe I should run the Auto Tag through additional sources, like Juno Download, MusicBrainz, etc. I'm using the latest build as per the previous posts' suggestion.

Hello, Discogs fetches only one release/master, and then if you have selected the catalog number or label options it fetches the "main release" (probably master) of the release it found. However that only changes the label and cat. no. if not available already.

Could you please provide a list of track names + artists and the intended tag values, so we can check manually? Thank you

The CD in question above is ( https://www.discogs.com/release/104952-Todd-Terry-Presents-Sound-Design-Back-From-The-Dead-EP-The-Final-EP-Bonus-Trax). One Tagger was accurately finding that one, but also several other releases such as HT 006, HT006R, and HT 006CD that weren't correct.

That EP is a bit of a hard one to replicate.

Notes: _These 9 HOT Trax Also Available As "Back From The Dead" E.P. Vinyl TNT-37 Final E.P. Originally Available as Freeze EP TNT-35

Tracks 1 to 9 from "Back From The Dead EP" Tracks 10 to 13 from "Final E.P. Bonus Trax"_

So yeah, don't you have a more simple example to test?

I will try to give some other examples, but at the moment I have to restore all the music files from a backup because I tried using three sources - Discogs, MusicBrainz and Juno Download, and it has left my files tagged much worse than before. One example I noticed a CD compilation that had been tagged with over 8 different album titles because the tracks could be traced to different releases, so trying 3 sources in one run was not a good decision. So, I'll have to start again but next time with just a few titles to start.
