[Suggestion] Multiple custom tilesets #25

This would be done via a new "tiles" folder in custom mappacks, you could put tilesets in there under any name and they would be viewable in-game. They would be viewable in the custom tiles tab via a dropdown menu. "Default" is the regular tiles.png, which doesn't go in the tiles folder to keep compatibility, while the tilesets in the tiles folder can be selected in the dropdown menu.

This would allow mapmakers to use unlimited amounts of tiles in a mappack without using massive sheets of tiles and they can be more easily organised.

I personally don't see the benefit of this feature. I can't think of many situations where a map-maker would need that many tiles.

Tall tilesets don't fit in memory very well, especially when certain graphics drivers have a hard limit on texture size (sometimes as low as 512×512). It would be easier on the creator to split them up, keep separate boxes for grass/snow/lava tiles etc., and still account for driver limitations.

This wouldn't necessarily be about having five hundred thousand massive tilesets for infinite tiles forever; there's already a hard limit of 10,000 tiles before it starts overlapping with animated tiles and messing with the game.

Reviving this thread to say that I did a SE Beta 9 multiple tilesets mod a long time ago:
