I bought the CSLA.NET Ebook series in 2013 and apparently lost my log in details somehow.I would like to purchase the ebooks again,my question have the ebooks been updated to reflected the changes in the csla.net framework

rockfordlhotka commented 6 years ago

The books are now available from http://store.lhotka.net

They haven't been updated.

JohnMilazzo commented 6 years ago

Rocky, at this point, would you consider open-sourcing those old ebooks? Maybe hosting them online so they can be updated by the community? They are still quite useful and I find myself referring to them every now and then.

Thank you John, that's not something I'm planning on at this time.

A consultant recommended your system, and I remembered reading your first book many years ago, so I thought that I would take a look. Unfortunately, there is no clear explanation on the Wiki or website about what it actually is and any business case. The link to the White paper just goes to your consulting practice. If you actually want this project to succeed, I would strongly recommend you listen to these requests and at least put some information in the public domain.

Here is my humble opinion, 'Using CSLA 4.0' books are the best resource to learn CSLA. I always keep a copy on my machine. While working on CSLA based projects I referenced them almost daily. They might be dated but if you download the latest version of Project tracker, you can learn the current version of CSLA while reading the books. You can always ask questions here, Rocky and the rest of the community members have always helped me.

Have a great day!

@opendomain thank you for pointing out the broken/missing links on the wiki. One of the drawbacks of the web is that sites/pages often change over time... I definitely need to find or replace the now-missing content, and I'm sorry you are the one who discovered the missing information.

Update: I have updated the link to the whitepaper, and have written a new (and imo better than the old) "What is CSLA .NET?" entry for the wiki:

Rocky, we are trying to purchase the ebooks but registering on the store is problematic due to what looks like the captcha component being outdated.

rockfordlhotka commented 6 years ago

Ouch! Thank you for letting me know @jannies - I now know what I'm doing this weekend - upgrading the store software 😄

About

Update: I have updated the link to the whitepaper, and have written a new (and imo better than the old) "What is CSLA .NET?" entry for the wiki:

I like the part whre you mention explicitly code generation

  1. Standardized, so devs can use code snippets or code generators to become highly productive,

because I think code generators value is hightly underestimated when coding for CSLA .NET.

rockfordlhotka commented 6 years ago

Thank you for your patience @jannies - I am 99% sure I have the store working now. I had to upgrade the database and site 3 times to get it up to current, and now all seems good. 😃

jannies commented 6 years ago

Thank you @rockfordlhotka, we managed to register and purchase the "Using CSLA 4 (all books). Unfortunately the download link provided on the email is giving a 404 not found error.

rockfordlhotka commented 6 years ago

@jannies I am so sorry about the difficulty with the store! I'm trying to troubleshoot the issue, but in the meantime if you provide me with your email address I'll send you a direct download link. You shouldn't have to wait while I go back and forth with the software vendor.

You can email me at rocky at lhotka.net and I'll get you the content.

Hi @rockfordlhotka. I'm trying to get hold of the CSLA 4.0 books from your store but just receive "An error occurred while starting the application". Is there some other way of getting hold of the e books please?

rockfordlhotka commented 6 years ago

@CLinksted of course the store goes down while I'm on holiday... I'm trying to troubleshoot now.

rockfordlhotka commented 6 years ago

@CLinksted the store is back up - thanks for letting me know it was down 👍
