Thanks for the report.
1. Is there a way you could try if it works with a newer Glyphs version?
Please note that you can always have multiple Glyphs versions on your Mac. Just duplicate the current one, rename it (maybe with the build number) and then update one of the 2 copies to the newest cutting edge version).
Since I cannot reproduce it (also on an M1 Mac here), this information would already help a lot.
2. Is your internet connection perhaps a little weak at the very moment when the crash happens? Just curious, if that could also add up to the crash.
3. You write "as soon as VFP is installed" → Do you mean it crashes, when you install it in the Plugin Manager, or do you mean, you got it installed, but it crashes, when you want to activate the plugin?
I install, close glyphs, reopen and the it crashes
also, with cutting edge version installed it still crashes
Thanks a lot.
Could you try the following?
In the Glyphs Repositories folder (next to the Scripts folder) should be a folder called "paddle-framework"
If it is not there, this would be valid information for me. If it is there, please delete it and try again, meaning: install the plugin again from the Plugin Manager.
If that doesn’t help, also delete the folder "variable-font-preview" from there and also try again (re-install).
Sorry for the inconvenience. This does not happen to everyone. Hope it helps. Let me know.
hmm it says now my license has been utilised. any ideas?
Can you try once more, please. I updated the license info.
Sure thing.

Solved. Seems the license verification had some troubles fetching its data. After reinstalling the python module and updating the license info, it works now for the reporter.
As soon as I install variable font preview, glyphs 3 (3.1.2 (3151)) just shuts down . Any updates on this?
Thank you!
