If clay could either be clumps or liquid, how would the liquid be processed or otherwise be used?

IRL, you can decant it as much as possible, then slop it into a cloth sac (think pillow case), and let it dry until workable.

I think clay should be rather early game; before cloth, probably. So we could forgo the convenience of drying it in pillowcases.

Here is a demonstration of refining clay by sedimentation (basically decanting). https://youtu.be/k2RKtUh6m3Q?si=IrjAo6X84C3moCWc

We need to convert whatever into game transitions. Sedimentation seems a bit too much for that. It’s like we need a clay pot to make a clay pot.

Ok, how about this? Early game the clay pool dries over time and you get 4 clay. Late game, when you can scoop out the liquid and refine it, you get 6 or 8 clay. Actual numbers TBD.

Does it make sense that refining gives you more? Maybe because picking it from the dried pool you loose some to the edges - the stuff that touches the dirt. But when refining you can get it all plus a little dirt - which gets refined out.
