Create README.md - add general description and list API endpoints #11

This change closes #9

A README.md file was created. A summary of the app is added at the beginning of the file. A section for the backend is added with a description. A list of the existing API endpoints is added.

Also, the .obsidian directory has been added as a line in .gitignore. Obsidian is being used locally to create and edit the README.md file and can be used for other markdown files.
