I'm aware that building the project yourself is something valuable that competitors won't be able to match.

WHICH ALTERNATIVES TO THE PROJECT?

(Order does not matter)

Real Alternatives: providing a way for a user to use an editor as a webApp, and oriented towards text editing (not code); online; free;

1.GOOGLE DOCS:

https://docs.google.com/

- It comes from Writely (Sam Shillace) acquired in 2006; clearly, the main alternative
- but, with this product, you have to connect with a ***Google account***.
- Other concerns:
    - the interface is too much even if quite clear (MSWord heritage).
    - The interface shows that the editor is the main functionality
    - sharing is in the top right corner; not really central.

2.CRYPTPAD:

https://cryptpad.fr/

https://github.com/xwiki-labs/cryptpad

based on https://github.com/xwiki-contrib/chainpad

- PROS

WRAPPING UP

There are a bunch of editors online. But

Markentoine commented 5 years ago

How does the project will be different for them?

  1. No real difference concerning what I consider as the basic feature: collaborative editing with a chat for live communication between participants. They all provide very good tooling for that.
  2. The differences could come for the services added for managers/teachers
  3. One difference could also come from the design of the interface.

Is there anything I could steal, either ideas or technology, from what others are offering?
