Other than flagging reviews (spammy, inappropriate, bug report), what else can an abuse patrol do?

Recruitment could be as simple as creating an entry point for these types of users. "Want to help keep the Marketplace in tip-top shape?" Similar to our app nomination page. Now that I'm thinking about it: Do we need to recruit? We could make flagging and suggesting edits more rewarding in some way, so users just start to do it naturally.

In current mocks, we've got the little flag icon on collection and app detail pages, but is that enough? Does it get more granular (every content field with a flag icon)? Do certain super users get more flag options? I would say no, we keep it minimal and unobtrusive, but I'm just getting the ball rolling.

Also, I say we sell this concept as a reality show: uniform-security-guards

Yeah. I think that this is a better idea. Perhaps a good first step is to make the entry point messaging more direct. What if, instead of saying “Please help Marketplace”, we say instead “See something bad? [Do this very simple action] to report it!”

We should also explore ideas to make potentially flaggable content more obvious. I don’t think having more flag icons is the solution here, because it could make the app landing page more crowded.

Github needs a "like" button so I can like Phil's image.

Let’s do some research first before we think of some more ideas for abuse patrol.

For example: what are the repercussions for Mozilla if we start asking developers to pull their app down based on contributor reports?

All this and more, discussed in issue #15.
