Issue with Quick Actions - Image Kit (Paid version)

The app is just not working anymore. It used to always work fine until recently that I noticed when trying to convert to Webp or Avif I get a Finder Error saying:

“Couldn't communicatie with a helper application. Try your operation again [1]. If that fails, quit and relaunch the application and try again [2]."

[!NOTE]

  • I've tried [1],[2] multiple times, but to no avail.
  • I've re-read the Active Guide Quick Webp and checked if all my finder extensions settings were set correctly, which they were.
  • I’m still on macOS Ventura 13.6.6 tho. Never had any problems running this app in the past. According to the info in the app store it should be able to run on all MacOS 11.0 or later.

So I have no Idea why it suddenly stopped working. Could this older OS be the problem due to a recent update to the app itself?

I'm not really keen on updating the OS right away every single time a new one comes out… so I prefer to just get the app fixed back to the way it used to work if possible.

Any tips / solutions provided as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated because I use this tool quite often during my job 🥹

Thanks in advance!

Kind regards,
 Thomas

I google keywords "Couldn't communicatie with a helper application. Try your operation again [1]. If that fails, quit and relaunch the application and try again [2]"

and found some may cause this issue A.File is in icloud folder B.File is in OneDriver folder

Can you confirm that your images files is not in a cloud folder?

I searched online for information about this error message, and most results are related to cloud storage services like iCloud, OneDrive, and Dropbox.

If your image directory is indeed in a cloud directory, please try moving the files to a local directory then test again.

Hi,

Yes, I've also tried to convert images on my local drive and the same issue kept happening. When the app was still working fine it never had any issues converting cloud images in my google drive folder accessed directly through the finder.

However, now that I have done a couple of things everything seems to be working again, including converting images in my google drive folder.

1) I have two google drive accounts. One apparently wasn't set up correctly because when I went to the cloud drive in the finder it gave me the option to "enable access to finder". So I did that. Which didn't fix the issue (no surprise because the other google drive didn't have this problem)

2) So maybe went a little overboard and gave

3) Upgraded to macOS Sanoma 14.5 everything

Now I'm not sure which combination of those actions resolved the issue and that some of them were even necessary lol. But the most important thing is that everything is working again. Though I have the suspicion that simply upgrading my macOS would have fixed the issue by itself. But that's just a wild guess because i'm no software engineer so what do I know :)

Anyway,

Thanks for the quick replies. Just wanted to give you an update on this "bug".

Have a great day!

Kind regards,

Thomas
