My container was working for over a year when it suddenly stopped working.
I use Nord VPN
Looking into the logs I was getting:
Wed Jul 5 02:10:17 2023 SENT CONTROL [*****.nordvpn.com]: 'PUSH_REQUEST' (status=1)
Wed Jul 5 02:10:17 2023 AUTH: Received control message: AUTH_FAILED
Wed Jul 5 02:10:17 2023 SIGTERM[soft,auth-failure] received, process exiting
I changed VPN_ENABLED=yes to no, container worked.
Checked password and user for Nord and confirmed my logins had not changed.
Checked the credentials.conf. Everything looked good.
After several other investigations I was about to give up when I found the answer on a random thread talking about openvpn.
It looks like NordVPN uses a different User Pass for application sign in.
Solution:
If you go to Nords website, log in, and go to dashboard/nordvpn/manual-configuration/ You can find the correct credentials for the container/ openvpn to connect.
