Haven't gotten a mail back yet. Do the baked terrain textures (8k pngs) actually contain an image or are they gray as well? If those seem fine then it's definitely a C4D/plugin issue.
The textures contain an image.

Do you happen to know with what version of C4D the plugin was made?

I'm guessing R18. Author mentioned there being some issues for R19. Is it possible for you to try on R18?
I can do that, yes. Will report here then.
Works with R18, but you need to remove the last arg in line 560 of the plugin.
