There's no way of going back to the previous screen now.

Same here. Backspace doesn't work too

Yeah the back button disappeared for me last week. Google Play Music Desktop Player (v4.7.1) OSX: 10.15.7 (Catalina)

*If it helps this was an issue back in June 2018 and was resolved.

Same issue on Ubuntu 20.10, Google Play Music Desktop Player (v4.7.1).
