Candles as decorations #40

We want to have candles as decoration.

Candles falling and igniting something may be an issue with all the flamables, drunks, darkness, etc. Especially if the weather is windy or exceptionally dry. So, it might be a good idea to limit the number of candles for effect and not for actual lighting in the tent. As long as the weather cooperates, I think candles along paths to the tent would be ok as long as the ground is not bone dry. If needed, we could water the ground sometime within the 24 hours before the party. However, if there is rain or lots of wind we need to have a backup plan.

I think lighting so we can actually see things could be done attractively with strings of LED lights for both the tent and the paths.

Another idea is to way them down with sand or rocks. And of course we don't wan to risk a fire so if it's too dangerous we won't put them up

I thought about the wind problem and it doesn't look like there's anything on the market that is cheap to buy BUT what do you think about the idea of clear plexiglass tubes that we can cut into 2.5 inch pieces to put over the tea light.

That could work, if the plastic doesn't melt. We could test it.

Another idea, would be to go to the recycle center and see if we could find clear bottles and cut the top and bottom off, giving us a cylinder. We'll make one and see what you think. Is 2.5 inches the size you want?
