All set for the bottles for the moment. We have enough string and can use old wine and scotch bottles. Will eventually run out of the ribbon. For the glas decoration which has not highest priority (although I really think it would be super cool to have it for every glass) would require material for the flower which are lace and crochet ribbons. Papermart has really good and cheap options for less than $10 and 2 yards per piece (9M). They also have burlap ribbons with the correct width which would make it even easier.

Also just sent an email to Grace asking if she knows a different website which I can buy ribbons from.

Some thoughts on drinking glasses and plates... 1) Decorations on drinking glasses - The handle on the jar in photo keeps the burlap from slipping off. But if you use the regular jars from our attic, how would you keep the burlap from slipping off? 2) Identifying drinking glasses - There are a limited number of jars, so they would need to be uniquely marked so each drinker could keep track of their drink. Would that be done ahead by you (how?), or at the party by the drinker (with magic markers at the drink table?), or what? 3) Keeping track of your drinking glass - Do you think drinkers will be able to keep track of their glass for the whole evening? And in the dark? And after a few too many drinks? Would you also need to supply burnable cups for the forgetful? 4) Glass jars vs paper cups - Jars are fun and won't blow away in a wind. Paper cups don't need to be washed, they stack up and take less space, and they are more plentiful. 5) Plates - The wooden plates have many of the same issues as the glass jars. If David can come up with something that works, he'll probably only make one for each guest, so they would be limited in supply, and need to be marked, and kept track of. And like jars they would be fun and not blow away in a wind. 6) Identifying - Marking stuff ahead could be fun. You could write something funny or special about that person on the jar and plate. Or laminate a photo onto the jar. But marking ahead takes time and the jars and plates would need to be spread out so people could find their stuff, which would take a lot of room. And slow down the serving line? Having guests mark their own stuff could be fun for them. An activity. Put a variety of colors of sharpies in lots of different places and then they can mark jars and plates and maybe other stuff (paper table cloth? paper plates? each other? the tent? oops?)

Hi Sally thanks for your thoughts.....here are some in response

1) you're right, the example I sent you had a handle which makes it easier to stick. I already discussed this problem with Amy. While I thought we could put one or two rubber band below the burlap to prevent it from falling down, Amy's solution was simply fix it with some hot glue. I will have to test it.

2)-4) I know my idea of decorating the jars makes things more complicated, especially when people loose their jars. So labeling the jars is probably a good idea. Maybe we can make it as easy as the picture below. If my idea with the rubber band works we could also easily strip off the decoration, washing and re-use them. What I am saying is I will figure something out because I really don't want paper cups.

5) Plates we could probably find a different solution like ordering one way bamboo plates if our original idea doesn't work. But in theory we could also label the plates, can't we? I attached pictures of bamboo plates and cutlery. The plates are $65 per 100 piece package, and $9 for 100 piece package for each the spoon, Knives and forks.

Martina, 1) rubber bands or hot glue sound like good solutions

2-4) I am all for "no paper cups". (And if someone gets so tipsy they loose their jar, well, that will slow down their drinking :) The wooden labels are nice. We could make a wooden label in David's shop, if you want, but they would be funkier.

5) Yes, one can write directly on the wooden plates. The bamboo cutlery looks nice.
