Barrels:

Where do we get them? how many? We need a cover

sallyhutch commented 10 years ago

Rockbridge Vineyards (540) 377-6204. They have a waiting list of people who want to buy barrels, and buying them is expensive. They will call back next week to let me know if they would rent barrels.

I think we gave up on the barrel idea :( too expensive. We will check out the standing tables from the tent rental place when we're in Natural bridge.

We can get barrels from Rockbridge Vineyards, call September 1st to ask, and talk to Jane Russ (or Reba)

We should check on width/height & cost at this time

sallyhutch commented 10 years ago

Called Rockbridge Vineyards and learned: As of 8/15 they had 8 (65 gallon) barrels, standing table height. They can't guarantee they will still have all 8 by 9/12 (some could sell, or not). They always keep 2, for weddings. (And they have a big plank if you want to make a high table.)
We may borrow (for free) as many as they have at the time. We can have them for a week (pick up a few days before and return a few days after). Only 3 fit in the back of a pick up and they take 2 people to manhandle. We should call Monday 9/8 to arrange which day to pick up and to find out how many they have. (Then we can call CVR and tell them how many standing tables we need, if any.)

Do you think we will need anything to go on top of the barrels to make them flat? Either way, should we have a tablecloth going over them? I would think not on the latter, but we should find out how flat the top of the barrel is.

sallyhutch commented 10 years ago

We think they will be flat enough. They will have a rim that sticks up, so I don't think a table cloth would work well. If they are not flat, David will make plywood tops to put on top, and then we would need table cloths. I have a 8 card table size cloths that I think would work.
