SFP support? #15

Does this kernel have SFP support for the cages on mcbin? Or is it only directattach cables?

Is there any plan for supporting SFP modules?

Jianlin-lv commented 5 years ago

I have tried two mcbin board, but the fiber port with SFP cannot work either. The copper ports can always work. The setup info is as below: MACCHIATObin Double Shot; linux-4.14.22-armada-18.09; u-boot 18.09 INTEL E65689-001 SFP TRANSCEIVER MODULE

Are you resovel this issue ?

Jianlin-lv commented 5 years ago

I change E65689-001 to SFP+DAC cables , SFP+ ports work properly on Macchiato

hchenji commented 5 years ago

I will double check this. Which toolchain version are you using?

Also, I need the fiber ports (not copper, not direct attach SFP+) working on the board, that's why I bought the board!

I rebuild kernel image based on MACCHIATObin , not cross compile ; I think the toolchain is not a key point. I can be sure that MACCHIATObin SFP+ ports don’t work with fiber cables and INTEL E65689-001 SFP transceiver modules. I have no idea whether other transceiver modules work correctly with fiber on MACCHIATObin.
