the reason for this is because the canvas returns the base64 string with the prefix data:image/png;base64,
It should work for you when you do this:

Ah, thanks for your help! I thought I tried something like that before, but now its displaying.
However the resolution of the signature is very pixelated and its only filling the upper left corner.
Not sure if I can control that or if thats just how the other SignaturePad stored the images.
@APusch-Tenno the only thing you might be able to do is to define a proper width and height for the component. By default the component uses 100% width and stretches the image accordingsly to that. Since your old signatures might have been created on a different size this might be the issue.
A specific width is already set, so I assume the old signatures are quite low in resolution. Thats not a big deal, as long as old stuff is still showing.
I would have prefered to use the old SignaturePad, since the lines looked a bit more "dynamic" (the faster you draw, the thinner the line is), but that is pure JavaScript and I couldn't get it to work in my Blazor project (even a fork of that as BootStrap Blazor didn't work).
Yours was the only one that worked even on first try, so thanks for providing it. If you ever find a way of making the lines look more like in my example, I am looking forward to it.

@APusch-Tenno v8.1.0 improved the drawing of the SignaturePad. I've also added details for existing Base64 string to the README.
Please try out v8.1.0 and leave some feedback :)
The drawing is much smoother now and I see you also fixed a previous bug, where when the cursor went over the edge even when releasing the mouse button the pad would still continue to draw when the cursor would enter it again.
Unfortunately now my existing signature won't load anymore with the solution you suggested.
I will take another look on your string tomorrow and test it again. Thanks for your feedback

The only thing I noticed is that curved lines look a bit strange, like its overlapping straight lines underneath the curved line:

Great, that worked!
It still looks a bit "harsh" without smoothing the lines, but I think thats fine for signatures.

Ill look into the problem when i have some time. I already know the reason https://github.com/MarvinKlein1508/SignaturePad/issues/39. In the meantime i found that thicker lines dont have that big of an issue. Look what works for ur case.

I have a database with already existing images stored as Base64. These images (signatures as PNG) were created with a different SignaturePad, however the Base64-Strings can be converted and PNG-images can be created.
Your SignaturePad has to be fed with a byte[], so I converted my Base64-String with:
Convert.FromBase64String
But the canvas isn't showing anything.
What am I missing?
