I decided to make all the cropped figure images before going in and revising how they are encoded based on more recent encoding decisions. While I have been cropping I have noticed how crooked the images actually are. I think this is a result of the angle at which they were taken.
Anyway, the real question is do we want square cropping that shows that the images are crooked or do we want to try to crop with the perspective so they look straight? Also, should we be including any accompanying text like captions etc when cropping images?
Thus far I have been doing square cropping because that is the easiest and what the technology I currently have allows for. In most cases I have been including the captions if I am able to. Some cases with the illuminated letters it is hard to include the entirety of the word. For example, the ES! on issue 1 page 1 is hard to crop together with the Y man.
