Unable to type into single-line edit fields when navigating with keyboard

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.  Open a new contact in the contacts app.
2.  Using a physical keyboard, navigate to one of the name fields and begin 
typing.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
I expect characters to be entered as I type. What happens instead is that no 
characters are typed. I must double-tap the screen to get the keyboard and 
accessibility focuses back in sync with one another, and I can then begin 
typing at that point. I must repeat this procedure for each edit field.

Running Talkback 3.5 beta 1 on Android 4.2.2.
