Use with wifi. #25

Ok I can use archfi just fine by setting up with wifi-menu but when it is all over at the end I can not go straight into archdi. Something happens, a message of some sort pops up at the bottom of the screen so fast that I can't read it but then I figured hey just install archdi and reboot but that does not work either. When I reboot everything is fine but wifi-menu will no longer work. It says I need to install dialog to use wifi-menu. I can't install dialog because I do not have a internet connection. Pretty much please make it where wifi-menu can be used after reboot because without a wired connection it is not possible to even reboot and install archdi because after reboot i do not have a connection. There has been a lot of updates lately and this may be the problem but I don't think so. Your script is just amazing other than it has no wifi support. I left antergos and took a chance on the script and I am still glad I did. I love the work other than no wifi support and it will not let me go straight into archdi at the end. I did all this twice this morning. And I love that you have added systemd boot support.

When you reboot after archfi, the dialog package isn't install and it's needed for wifi-menu... But for your error on archdi, is it the same if you use sourceforge or github?

freefreeno commented 5 years ago

Yes sir. When I try to go into archdi you know at the end of archfi it just throws some error up at bottom of screen and does not allow me to run archdi or install it at that point so I rebooted and thought I could just use wifi menu again but it says the package "dialog" is needed for wifi menu. I really want to use your script and I think it the best arch installer or script I have ever seen. I just don't have a wired connection on my laptop at all .

I don't think your understanding. I can't tell you if either one of your download spots will work with archdi because

I am sorry stuck on old Android . I can't tell you if either place works for archdi because at the end it cause doesn't work and then I can't try anymore after I rebooted because I have no internet but I did this 3 times to be sure . I use system boot if that makes a difference. It doesn't allow me to use archdi at the end if archfi. No internet after reboot because no wifi menu. Yes I know some people will say there is a way but I haven't had time to try . I do appreciate you responding and if you get it fixed or be need me to test I will .

At the end of archfi before installing archdi, CTRL+ALT+F2 pacstrap /mnt dialog exit Then CTRL+ALT+F1 and finish archfi

freefreeno commented 5 years ago

I still have internet at the end and it is still not allowing archdi . That is the only reason I am rebooting instead of just starting the desktop install. I only rebooted because when I click on run archdi it doesn't work. Also if I click install archdi it doesn't work and I know it isn't working because command not found after reboot.

I suggest you to make a simple install with archfi and dialog if you need wifi. After reboot and internet ready, try : curl -L archdi.sf.net/archdi > archdi sh archdi -i archdi

freefreeno commented 5 years ago

I am gonna try when I get home. Thanks

Trying it again and before I go any further there is an error. "Failed to open file "/sys/devices/system/CPU/microcode/reload" read only file system error: command failed to execute correctly .

I figured out but I would like to add the Ctrl alt and f2 or f2 or any for that matter didn't open terminal for me so that didn't work. It would have worked for nicely if I could have just went to terminal and back because installing dialog did the trick. Thanks

Closing because no feedback, if you want you can reopen this old issue but CTRL+ALT+Fx is a basic feature of Linux

freefreeno commented 5 years ago

Yea it takes a different key combo for my laptop to open the the terminal even at boot. It is f5 for me so it took me a while to figure that out. No big deal I just installed normally.

MatMoul commented 5 years ago

@freefreeno Thanks for your feedback but very strange...
