configurations should be stored in variables, not set as strings in code #369

This applies to at least the following modules. It should be a simple fix to get the variables (here, paths to some program or directory) into the Drupal database, which would make it so that we could more easily keep these files -- and the rest of the file tree -- up to date with Git commands, without having to worry about overwriting "customizations".
