Aizawa & Yokoi present similarity search by subpath sets oin MKM2009, and this year Qun Zhang have a paper on this at CICM 2014. We should carefully study them and see whether we can implement this in MWS. @cprodescu @Raduh

another reference is Shalaf Kamali's work, see the CICM 2013, IR 13 papers.

You might also want to have a look in the (Web)Mias implementation and the paper. I used that as reference for the similarity search build into the first version of mathosphere.
