they could be updated, but it would take quite a bit to apply any patches.

cMIOS is open sourced but i'm sure there are other more pressing priorities at 
the 
moment.

Well, it would be good for people who are trying to update only specifically 
what they wish to update.  The 
patches aren't necessary.  Also, yes, this is not a priority, just a note for 
further down the road.
