UltraFast ? #61

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
Will 1964 have the option that 1964 UltraFast mod gives in future ?
playing in 60 fps

Unless you get the original developer of 1964 Ultrafast mod to release his code
changes, it most likely will never end up part of this repo.

Im unsure whether it is actually the UltraFast source code since i would have
to diff each file against my current ones to check.

Ahh, I'm almost 100% certain that there haven't actually been any chances to
the source code that, that guy provided.

I was the one who posted that source. It was inserted with the 1964 bundle,
which I created. It's just the source for 0.8.5 without any changes. I added it
since 1964 is GPL and requires the source code for every binary release (see
https://www.gnu.org/licenses/gpl-faq.html#UnchangedJustBinary).

I'm currently trying to recreate PistolGrip's mods to the source, but I'm stuck
on some timing issues. I think PistolGrip slowed down the emulator
(DOUBLE_COUNT set to 2), then increased vips_speed_limits array, but when I
tried to do this, it caused a lot of sound glitches. Would you happen to have
any insights on what I am doing wrong?

Hmmm, I have no idea either man, I have as much of a clue as you would, Ive
never really looked into it.
By the way if your interested I can give you SVN write access XD

I appreciate the offer, but I have 0.0f experience in emulation. Right now I'm
just fumbling around, trying to recreate the mods PistolGrip made. It would be
very helpful if RetroRalph did release the source to his ultrafast build, but
RetroRalph appears to be dead or something like that.

If I manage to figure out the problem with sound, I'll post my code changes.

You probably about have the same experience as me man, most of what I do is
trial and error XD. Having another programmer around fumbling through the code
would help greatly.
It would be of great help if he did, that goes with anyone whose made changes
to the source code of 1964 but havent bothered to release it.

After viewing your source changes to timer.cpp, I was able to insert the code
changes into 1964 0.8.5, thus, creating a perfect copy of PistolGrip's build.
Thank you so much!
