Cannot map wiimote button 1 to kempston up #8

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start Bruce Lee game with kempston controls
2. In Wiimote config choose Kempston, Use Joypad as Joystick, Bind key 2 to
Fire, Bind key 2 to Up
3.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
expect 1 to jump and 2 to fire

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
1 does not jump

Please provide any additional information below.
Ideally, I would like to be able to save key configs for each game as there is
sometimes a lot of messing around to get controls sorted before a game can
begin.

You should use another kind of joystick to bind a joystick movement to a
button. Kempston joystick is not mapped to keyboard buttons as the other
joystick types. The easiest way is to choose a cursor (or protek interface)
joystick in the game and then bind up/down/left/right to the button in the
wiimote configuration menu. Otherwise you should bind the keyboard buttons
taking into account that Sinclair 1 is mapped to 1,2,3,4,5 keyboard buttons;
Sinclair 2 is mapped to 6,7,8,9,0 keyboard buttons.

To have a configuration file for each game is a good idea.

Thanks. I have many more good ideas if you are interested!

I raised the above issue because it is not intuitively obvious that you can not
map the Kempston directions when you are allowed to map the Kempston fire
button. The issue can, as you note, be got around by using a different joystick
type.

All the suggestions are welcome.

Issue report can be also used to give suggestions even if there is not a
specific item in the issue list.

In version 3 you can also binding the arrow keys to Joysticks.

Moreover you can save the configurations for each game. They are automatically
loaded with the program if you set the related option.
