I've tested this a bit more, and it must be certain games, or I must be
remembering
things wrong. The games in particular are Dusty Diamond's All-Star Softball
and the
Japanese version. In the real game you can press start during pitching to
change
pitchers, are it seems that only the first player can pause. I'm sure these
are good
roms, but maybe it's something specific on my Wii, because I can get the 2nd
player to
join in on Battletoads, and can pause it there...

What controllers are you using for the 1st and 2nd player (are both controllers
wiimotes, are they both classic controllers, etc)? If both are wiimotes, then
one
will take over the other.

Lots of games could only be paused by the first controller on NES...

nintendonerd1889: I'm using 2 wii classic controllers, but I tested using just
wii-
motes as well. What do you mean by one will take over the other?
I guess as a further example, when I tried Battletoads, I was able to start
both
players, by pressing start, and was able to pause with both players.
In Dusty Diamonds, either player should be able to pause in order to switch
THEIR
pitcher, when pitching (otherwise it just pauses the game, when batting). The
first
player can pause when batting, and switch pitchers when pitching, but the
second
player cannot do either, the start button (+) does nothing.

When you first got your wii, the first controller was assigned/synced as player
1.
With FCEUltra GC, you can't assign too at the same time; you have to assign two
different controllers for the emulator (player one - classic controller, player
2 -
gamecube controller) Believe me, I've tried two wiimotes with Doctor Mario and
it
didn't work.

Hmm... but playing 2 players with 2 classic controllers works just fine, it's
just the
start button in certain games that doesn't seem to be working.

sorry, there's absolutely nothing special about the start button mapping, it's
treated just like all the other buttons. so if it's not working, it's either
that
the game was designed like that (many were) or possibly an emulation issue with
FCEUX

That's what I thought... gonna test a real Dusty Diamond's cart on a real nes
tomorrow
to prove to myself that I'm crazy.
