Any chance of enabling these to work. I have a 3D TV and this would be a great
feature.

0 chances... it's absolutely not the same 3d technology and even if your TV can
display 3d stuff, Wii hardware is incapable of generating such video signal...

How about dividing the screen in two, and just refreshing the odd frames on the
left side and the even frames on the right side? The results would run at
30FPS, but that's really as high as you could get with that archaic system.

3D TVs could convert that into a 3D view right off the bat.

3D TVs can really do that with 2D video source ? Have you more infos on the
technique used ?

There is also the solution of blue/red plastic glasses but I don't really know
how well this would work for 3D SMS games or what would be needed to display
SMS frame so that it appears in 3D...

I believe the technique is actually the simplest thing ever: just splitting the
screen right in the middle, showing each signal on its respective side and
calling it a day.

First time I saw a console game doing it was precisely last week in SEGA's
Super Hang-On for one of the Vintage Collections (the Xbox 360 version, at
least). You can see it in action in the free demo version, or I can take a pic
after I finish the sound tests I'm currently doing.

Some TV channels actually use this method, and the only downside to it seems to
be the loss of horizontal resolution, which wouldn't be a big deal here.

Just for the record, it seems that Mednafen also does this kind of side-by-side
3D:
