Conker(CBFD) - weird corruption #112

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

Start Conker and select Chapter "Scaredy Birdy".
Before the motionblur effect, press START and everything is ok i.e. PAUSE, CONT
& QUIT are displayed correctly and no flickering.
After motionblur effect, when the dialogue start to appear, press START(high
chance) and you will see incomplete display of CONT or QUIT or PAUSE or missing
and flickering game joystick display (see attached images).
After the 3 dialogue bubble are completed, press START again and everything is
back to normal.

Quit and re-enter the same chapter and everything is normal. Close the rom and
start the game again(same emu session) and play the same chapter and everything
is normal.

Close emu, start emu and start the game. The same issue is encountered the
first time that chapter is played. This is tested using Official r156, r157
and r159(HWFBE version) on Mupen64. Same result on 1964.

I have tested the game on Mupen64 using Glide64_NapalmWX_R1.1 and it has the
same issue except that the issue is always there even if you re-play the same
chapter in the same emu session.

To see the issue 100%, do the following:
1. start emu then start game
2. choose chapter and select "Scaredy Birdy" (even for new game)
3. before motionblur effect start, press START (normal display)
4. after motionblur effect end, press START (weird corruption)
5. once the screen/frame changed (after 3 dialogue bubble),
   press START (normal display)

I have tested other chapters on 1964 with dialogue bubble as well, press START
always give good display. Maybe motionblur or some gamma weirdness.

For my own testing, I commented out "ignore_previous = 1" from the ini for CBFD.
Tested on Mupen64 and 1964, the display is normal for all the above tested
scenarios(no more weird corruption).

Also, tested on other chapters in 1964, everything is still normal. Not sure
what this setting is for but removing it seems to solve the problem.

Removing that setting solve another problem for me in 1964.
Before:
1. When I start Bomberman64U after CBFD, the transition effect intro will
flicker badly. It may then affect subsequent game(depends on which game).

Now:
1. Problem is gone after removing that setting from CBFD.

It does help in my case. Maybe you have a better way to solve these weird
issues.

Ok, I removed this setting and did not find any regression.
