NFL Quarterback Club 98: buff_clear=0 #205

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
the cleaning of the ini had been too much drastic.

NFL Quarterback Club 98
buff_clear=0

the former ini was the work of years. Some options began to be useless but not
all!

I think you are getting a bit paranoid about the ini cleaning.
I did the ini cleaning but I don't remember removing buff_clear = 0 settings in
any game.

Gonetz,
Can you confirm if the corrected ini I sent to you accidentally removed this
setting.

Oliviery,
This game works for me, menu and in-game without any issue.
Also, I am trying to take away any credit from you by doing the ini cleanup as
I merely suggested to Gonetz and he accepted it.
Also, if you value your work that much, you should have checked it at the time
it was replaced by Gonetz.
You can do a simple super compare and see the diff and check if any of the
removed setting is required.
You are free to direct your unhappiness at Pokefan0.999 who did the ini cleanup.

Correction - typo
it should read "I am not trying to take away any credit ...."

Another thing:
The purpose of the ini cleanup is to remove individual game settings that is
already the default ini setting which make such game settings redundant.
Did you check r171(trunk ini cleanup) and r186(hwfbe ini cleanup)?

Any removal of game setting is tested and submitted to Gonetz for verification
before he will remove it.

So far, I check r171 and r186 and I did not see removal of buff_clear=0 for NFL
Quarterback Club 98.

Gonetz,
Kindly help to clarify this matter.
If it is my mistake, I will do the necessary.

Correction:
I have 99 & 2000 not 98. It is unlikely that I will suggest remove any setting
from 98 unless the cleanup remove it accidentally which I did not find in r171
& r186.

I will wait for Gonetz and give you(Oliviery) an appropriate reply.
Finally, I help out in the testing etc for Glide64 because I wanted to help
Gonetz.
It is not to take away credit from anyone, past or present.
You(Oliviery) is the official Glide64 tester not me.
You are on the Glide64 team not me, why worry.

Anyway, you took out all my interest to test for Glide64.
All the more, you have nothing to worry if that is any reassurance.

Pokefan i am not blaming you and i am quite happy that somebody help out to
test the plugin as it is too much for one person ;)

Just that some option in the ini seems to have gone for no reason and we need
to ensure the qualuity of our releases

Keep on testing please, you are a great tester :)

Gonetz,
I happen to have an official ini dated 24/5/2010 inisde the official
"Glide64_NapalmWX_R1.1" archive.
I do not know the internal name of NFL Quarterback Club 98 but the closest I
can find is "NFL Quarterback Club" which has buff_clear=1.
The other NFL is for QBC 99 & 2000.

If "NFL Quarterback Club" is the correct name, then it is already buff_clear=1
when I did the cleanup which is correct.
If "NFL Quarterback Club" is not the correct name, then I cannot find any QBC
98 game settings in the ini since 24/5/2010 which means it is already using the
default buff_clear=1.

Waiting for your reply.

Too much emotions for mere bug report. Please all calm down.

First, svn tracks history of all changes for all files in the repository. If
some change was done by mistake, it can be easily tracked and reverted.

Then, regarding NFL Quarterback Club 98 settings. I usually use Project64.rdb
to find game's internal name. In our case Internal Name=quarterback_club_98.
This game settings were changed in r171: "ini cleanup by pokefan0.999. Removed
custom settings, which are the same as
default ones." Modifications: removed options fog = 1, buff_clear = 1, fb_clear
= 0. Everything is correct - all these options has default values, and thus can
be safely removed. Currently ini section for NFL Quarterback Club 98 does not
have buff_clear setting. As I understand from the bug report, correct setting
is buff_clear=0. Let's check r42, when ini file was first added to the
repository. We can see, that here buff_clear=1 too. So, this option is wrong
from the very first version of the ini, which we can track.

My conclusion: I don't see "too much drastic" results of ini cleanup.
pokefan0.999 did a large job and made it very accurate. It's possible that few
settings were broken, but again, we can easily track it and revert.

PS. I'd prefer to see emotionless bug reports, with bug description only. We
have the message board for discussions.

I can't find ini version with buff_clear=0 for quarterback_club_98.
Please post screen shots with buff_clear=0 and buff_clear=1 to see the
difference.
