pokemon stadium 2 - several battlefield grounds bugged #236

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. start (even on a free battle) a battle on (in this case) the elite four
battlefield with random pokemons
2. wait untill get the camera on the sky (looking down)
3. (just watch carefully the battlefield ground)

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
i would say about 75% of all the stages has the same problem. a square of the
colour of the ground appears instead of the pokemon draw in the floor. my guess
the layer with the draw its under the layer of the ground. probably its one bug
that affects all the floors.

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?
glide64 r230 on 1964 ultrafast V3 on windows xp pro sp3 x86

Please provide any additional information below.
leaving a screenshot of the latest glide64 and a random old video plug in with
the floor as should be in the elite four (koga i think? the first one).
as i said in many this appears. if necesary i will try to do a list of all the
battlefields with this issue.

I need a savestate from this arena - the instructions how to get there are to
complex for me. And it would be better to make the savestate in Project64 -
it's more convenient for debugging.

ok this is the 2 elite four guy (after the 1 one) its the same arena but are
different courtyards. are separated by stairs, if you defeat one you get to the
next one and so one. i think the geometry its a little off. if you watch the
backround that shows parts of the other courtyards when the pokeballs get send
out the whole structures moves around (like if it where made of rubber moving
around everywhere).
i leave you a 1964 ultrafast v3 save state for project 64. i dont use project
64 since i have issues with the 1.6 version on windows 7 x64.

The save does not work. Please attach 1964 savestate then.

ok sorry if i dont give clear instructions. really i wanna be helpful.
i will attach a new save state.
if it does not work do this, its pretty easy:
1: start the rom on the belly of the slowking (the pink pokemon) enter into the
stadium menu.
go to the upper right end of the screen with the magneton (the 3 spining stuff)
choose the free battle option.
2: choose 1 player vs com on any difficulty (does not matter really)
choose any elite four arena (there are several more bugged must be the same
issue but those are for sure) for example elite four koga.
choose 6 random rental (or if you prefer) gb-gbc pokemons.
3:choose them in a random order with the button provided into the silver menu
4:start the battle dont give any attack orders and the camera will show you the
battlefield.
i hope this helps you if the save state does not work out.

The save does not work. Try to use regular versions of 1964, not mods.

I don't see how to select "elite four arena" manually.
I choose 1 player vs com, any rules, and I don't see any "elite arena" in the
"select stage" list.

Gonetz,
Your comment about "not mods" is a sweeping statement because I have sent you
many savestate using 1964mod and you have never had any issue with it.
I can't say about UltraFast though.

Here is a savestate of a battle with elite four, unzip to any dir and load(it
is a PJ64 save format from 1964mod). Once loaded, you are on the battlefield.

PJ save works, thanks.
Unfortunately, I can't fix it 100% correct.

may i ask, when you say that you cannot fix it 100% it means that some stages
will be unfixed? because i went to the goldenrod gym and the battlefield
pokeball its missing...

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
I can't fix it 100% correct. That means that some colors may not look exactly
as on N64, and even may look incorrect.

well, thats ok. i just think that the floor should have the shape of the
pokeball. the rest its kinda like a decoration.
the goldenrod gym has the same issue and remains that way.
there are others, do you want me to do a list to see if you can fix it or the
ones that are still damaged on the r232 means that are not fixable?
