Unable to play some files #6

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?

Upon trying to view certain .wmv files downloaded from
http://www.abc.net.au/tv/goodgame/video/ the program will crash with a code
dump. These files can be played fine on MplayerWii and GeeXBox however.

Using the latest version version of MplayerCE, tested with SMB and USB.

Codedump picture attached.

I checked, and .wmv are supported and they play perfectly well with me...
Iv'e tested a wmv from that site, and it plays well, but audio become choppy.
We will look into this.

I am unable to play a number of files. For instance, the first episode of
Nanoha
StrikerS fansub from yesy, and the first TVNihon fansub episode of Kamen Rider
Ryuki.
Trying to play such files gives me a hang or a crash. The files play fine on
MPlayerWii, and I can still play other files. Whether I play them off an SD
card or
a DVD makes no difference. They are .avi files.

Similar problem, playing a .avi/xvid (but not all). I Dont know how to find the
Codec
information (I assume it is a codec issue), what I did get was
Audio MP3 48000Hz 112 kb/s CBR
Video 741 kbps XviD 23.976 FPS
Frame 0.163 bits*pixel
Res 680 x 278

This issue is possibly fixed in the new svn build. Expect a new pack to test
this
with soon.

I'm also have issues with playing .mp4 files that play just fine on the previous
version v.0.5 , I'm am using the usb 2.0 support with both versions when the
v.62
fails to play the mp4 file and the v.0.5 plays fine. The only I can get v.62
to play
the files is if I remove the usb2.0 cios and install dvdx with usb 1.1 support
then
it will play the files fine but loads very slowly. My videos I'm am using are
mpeg-4
total bitrate of 1148 basic bitrate of 128 and encoded with LAVF52.31.0 this is
the
program videodora2ipod

I get this problem a lot as well. There may very well be a good technical
explanation
for it, but where the official mplayer source shines and plays back everything
without an issue, neither the original mplayer port nor mplayer-ce can come
near it
and code dump on quite a lot of normal media files.

Can we get an official explanation why this is? As I understand it this is
mostly a
direct port outside of converting certain handles and code to work with what
you are
given on the Wii hardware/devkitpro. So theoretically it should be on par or
close to
the compatibility state of the official mplayer branch.

uhhhh no it shouldn't the main difference is you have a lot less power to work
with
so you not going to get as good as original mplayer. Also the PPC processor
that the
wii has has some accelerations for media files but only certain sets. Thats why
H.264
is iffy at best.
