Choosing SMB (Any share) shows SD contents instead #626

I have configured smb.conf properly, to the best of my knowledge, and even 
tried a variety of different ways to target the SMB share (by IP and by 
NAME)

When I choose browse -> SMB -> 1,2,3,4,5 regardless of the target or 
validity of the share, it simply shows the contents of the SD card, with 
no errors. 

Thought it could be related to the fact that my SMB share is running off 
my server which is assigned a public IP behind the AT&T U-verse modem, but 
I tried it on a private (192.168.1.###) computer with the same result.

On an unrelated note, if you take the SD card out while browsing, it 
crashes.
