Since 0.76 b1 23/12, FTP is not working properly in any new version. #689

Well, the problem is as follows, I use an FTP server at home to access my
files from work or even from my portable devices.

The version I use is 0.76 b1 23/12, and works flawless, but ever since
then, all versions I try, none of them seem to access the FTP server.
The FTP server I use is FileZilla Server (a free ftp server), and
currently works with all my equipment, PCs, NDS, Wii, iPhone and more.

So I don't know what I'm doing wrong, I still use the default config files
from 0.76, I only edit ftp.cfg and add the IP, username, password and I'm
done, no other change.

Can someone please help me out, I really want to try the newer versions to
see the new implementations on video and audio.

You need to edit ftp.conf make passive1=1 and the same for share2 and any
others you
use. No idea why that's not the default.

I already do that for 0.76 b1 23/12, that was the way to make it work with the
FTP,
but still, doesn't work with it.

Waht I found is that if you access youtube or any online service, then I can
access
the FTP again, what I'm thinking is that the program needs to initilize the
network
settings a lot before accesing the FTP menu (or even SMB).

Ah yes, I usually find it helpful to click on the FTP, wait 60 seconds, then try
again. It usually works on the first try with some waiting on the 0.77 betas.

With the version I use I normally need to wait a maximum of 5 seconds and the
connection is ready, so the newer versions either need a retouch in the FTP
access
or there is an error in the menu.conf that is messing around with this problem.

Can someone please check this problem.

I am also having FTP issues on all the new Mplayers trying to connect to my ix2-
200... it was working before. Now it says it's connecting but doesn't list my
folders. Any help yet?

Found a workaround for anyone that can't get FTP running on the new betas...
When
you first load Mplayer open a ShoutCast online stream to initialize your
network.
Once a stream is playing open your FTP. Works for me for my local wifi FTP.
