wii tehpola branch r466 freezes on splash screen

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Load Wii64 from HBC with GC controller in port 1

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
Splash screen displayed, Wii64 logo background with spinning N logo.
N Logo moves to top right, large WII64 logo backdrop appears.
Wii freezes and requires hardware power on/off.
Expected main menu to display. Instead stuck on splash.

What version of the product are you using? On which system and loader?
R466 tehpola SVN branch, built using Makefile.gln64_dev_wii. System 33,
launching from HBC 1.01.

Please provide any additional information below.
Compiled binary from the main trunk launches fine with exact same setup.
Unable to test with Classic controller (don't have one :-) to verify if GC
controller is causing the crash.
